delda skinner

Delda Skinner’s art effervesces. She is as likely to be inspired to work with scraps of fabric as she is acrylics on canvas or to tie Milagros onto the edges of a piece instead of formally framing it. In one frame she created the paper upon which the image rests, for another she used acrylics and washes, still another is drawn in charcoal with color added later. Yet all of Delda’s work is layered: layered materials, layered colors, layered images, layered prayers or evocations (revealed or not). The subject of her works is often profound, but the path there is anything but serious. There is a playfulness in her layering that nudges the viewer with a wink to participate, to play with the creator in the work, to find hope in the heart.
