artist statement

I have always been intrigued by how life’s experiences on a conscious and/or subconscious level affect the tenor of my work. These experiences translate into symbols that one comes back to over and over and uses in different artistic forms. This symbolic visual language that is unique to each individual can be read by color, texture, image and edge. There are no language or cultural barriers. The viewer connects with the art work and there is a relationship forged on every layer experience.

I realize that there is little, if anything “new” in art. Ideas are always recycled, and it is in this recycling that I try to bring about communication between the viewer and the art work. By using all of the above, metaphorically, to symbolize experience, growth and understanding I invite the viewer to participate in an unforgettable visual verbalization with the art work.

Under the layers of paint there are names, prayers, poems and blessings that I feel adds to and sends out synergetic energy which has a positive influence universally.
